This privacy policy explains how WhatIP ("we", "us", "this site", whatip.xyz) handles your information when you use our website. We try to keep this short and readable. WhatIP is a free hub of IP and DNS network tools, everyday calculators, browser games, and crowdsourced phone-number lookups.

What we collect

Information you enter into a tool or calculator. Calculator inputs are processed entirely in your browser and are not stored or sent to our servers. When you close the tab, those inputs are gone. Some network tools, such as IP Lookup, DNS Lookup, MX Lookup, and WHOIS, must send the address or domain you ask about to a server so we can return a result. We use those values only to answer your request and to protect against abuse, not to build a profile of you.

Crowdsourced phone-number reports. If you submit a note about a phone number, the text you write is published on the site and stored so other visitors can read it. Do not include personal information you do not want to be public.

Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs of requests, which include IP addresses, user agents, requested URLs, and timestamps. These logs are retained for a short period to help debug technical issues and protect against abuse. They are not used to track individual users across the web.

Cookies and similar technologies. We use a small number of essential cookies to remember preferences such as your locale. We also allow advertising and analytics cookies as described below. See our cookie policy for the full breakdown.

Email correspondence. If you contact us at info@whatip.xyz, we receive your message and your email address. We use that information solely to reply to you and act on your request, and we do not add you to any marketing list.

What we do not collect

We do not require an account, a login, or a profile. We do not ask for your financial information. We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

Advertising

WhatIP is supported by display advertising, and we work with third-party advertising vendors, including Google, to serve those ads.

Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your prior visits to this site and other sites on the internet. These third parties operate under their own privacy policies, which govern the data they collect through their ad code.

You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time. To manage how Google personalizes the ads it shows you, visit Google Ad Settings at https://www.google.com/settings/ads. To opt out of personalized advertising from many vendors at once, use the industry tools at https://www.aboutads.info/choices and, in Europe, https://www.youronlinechoices.eu. Opting out does not remove ads; it makes them less tailored to you.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand aggregate traffic, such as which tools and pages are most useful and how visitors move through the site. GA4 uses cookies and similar identifiers to measure this activity. We use these reports at the aggregate level to improve the site and do not use them to identify you individually. You can limit analytics through your browser settings and the cookie controls described in our cookie policy.

Third parties

The main third parties that may process data when you use WhatIP are our hosting provider (for serving the site and keeping server logs), Google AdSense and its advertising partners (for ads), and Google Analytics (for traffic measurement). Some network tools also rely on upstream data providers for IP geolocation, DNS resolution, and WHOIS or RDAP records. Each of these operates under its own privacy policy.

Your rights and data requests

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights regarding personal information about you. These include the right to access information we hold about you, the right to ask us to delete it, and the right to object to certain processing. Because we collect very little personal information and do not maintain user accounts, exercising these rights is straightforward in practice. Send a request to info@whatip.xyz and we will respond within 30 days. You can also exercise advertising-related choices directly through the Google and industry opt-out links above.

Children

This site is intended for general audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 in the United States, or under the equivalent age in other jurisdictions. If you believe we have inadvertently received such information, please contact us so we can delete it.

International users

This site is hosted in the European Union. By using the site you understand that your information may be processed in that location. We comply with applicable data protection laws, including the GDPR for EU and UK users and the CCPA for California residents, to the extent each applies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes to the site or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after a change indicates that you accept the revised policy.
